JUN KOSHINO STAY SEE
The exhibition, which was held in 2007, was the exhibition that created a space by installing one piece by the artist. This time, the artist Jun Koshino will not be involved in the installation. Instead, it will be a so-called viewer-participation exhibition, in which an unspecified number of viewers (with the artist's permission) who visit the gallery at irregular intervals will display that one piece. In other words, people who visit at different times will see different spaces.
"The traditional Japanese gardening technique of “suteishi” involves placing a single stone in a garden to transform the overall landscape while also making the stone itself an object of aesthetic appreciation. This exhibition features a single circular work measuring 22 mm in diameter placed in the gallery space, showcasing the transformation of the space through the interaction between the work and its surroundings. The arrangement of the works is not based on Western mathematical standards, but rather on sensory intuition, and the colors and placement of the works were changed several times during the exhibition period. The title of the exhibition is “Stay-See.” In Go, there is a strategy called “sacrificing stones” (where a move that appears useless at first glance later takes on great significance in the overall game), and the diameter of the works corresponds to the size of Go stones."
